I have been working with companion
animals full time for the last 10 years. My two amazing dogs, Rolf
my chocolate Labrador and Stewie the German Pointer, (along with
my husband), mean everything to me.
Having graduated from Sheffield University with a degree in Zoology
I then obtained a Master of Science degree in Animal Behaviour and
Welfare from Edinburgh University. It was at Edinburgh University
that I embraced my passion for companion animal behaviour and
completed a dissertation investigating the effect of rescue shelter
environment on the behaviour of dogs, the implications for adoption
and re-relinquishment.
I am a full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Councillors
(APBC) organisation (www.apbc.org.uk)
and a member of the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour
(ASAB). As Regional Manager for Puppy School I provide puppy school
training but also help to guide other puppy school tutors in the
South West region. My experience in dog and puppy training has
further led me to be a dog trainer for the registered charity Dog
Aid.
Outside of my animal work, I work with young adults who wish to
pursue a career with the animal care industry. I am a lecturer at
Bridgwater College where I deliver practical learning sessions to
students studying a Level 3 qualification in Animal Management or a
BSc in Applied Animal Management.
